1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANIZATION

Together for Peace & Development Organization (TPDO) is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization and its duly registered in 2024 in Uganda. TPDO head office is located in Nakasero in Central division of Kampala-Uganda.  TPDO is established with the aim of working to promote access to socio-economic development and services like empowerment through education, healthcare services & livelihood services and also access to WASH and general protection services for refugees and refugees hosting communities in the refugee hosting districts.

 

1.2 VISION

To create and maintain a strong and vibrant society where vulnerable communities have access to quality socio-economic development and essential services such that they are strong drivers of change.

 

1.3 MISSION

To strengthen the resilient livelihoods of refugees and refugees hosting communities living in poverty and exclusion.

1.4 OBJECTIVES

  1. To promote socio-economic development among refugees and refugees hosting communities;
  2. To promote access to clean and safe water to refugees and refugees hosting communities;
  3. To promote access to sexual reproductive health and rights education service to refugees and refugees hosting communities;
  4. To achieve significant and lasting impact on women and children’s rights through empowerment;
  5. To contribute towards the reduction of teenage pregnancy and school dropout level through initiation of skilling programs and informal education for the youth;
  6. To create awareness on drug abuse and the related/associated outcomes;
  7. To sensitize and create awareness on gender inequality and gender based violence; and
  8. To promote formal and informal education to the vulnerable and disadvantage group;

 

1.5 CORE VALUES OF TPDO

TPDO is guided by the four core values, which shape the internal culture:

  • Integrity: TPDO value upright behavior and operate with complete transparency and lack of ambiguity. Our actions are legal, clear, consistent, honest and truthful. TPDO have zero tolerance for corruption, subterfuge and hidden agendas.
  • Transparency/Accountability: We are fully responsible for all our actions and track all we do as well as the results with appropriate documentation. Financial information is accurately recorded, clearly presented and disclosed without undue delay to those who have a right to request it. Files and documentation are maintained in good, accessible order at all times.
  • Innovativeness: TPDO value the creation of new solutions to existing and new challenges. We celebrate innovative solutions.
  • Sustainability: Resources of the organization are effectively, efficiently, honestly and faithfully used to achieve the resources and assets are safeguarded from loss, fraud, waste and inefficient use.

TPDO thematic areas are:

  1. Health and Nutrition;
  2. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene;
  3. Access to Education services;
  4. General protection, Human rights, gender equality and gender transformative change;
  5. Livelihood and Women’s Empowerment and People with Disabilities;
  6. Reduction of teenage pregnancy and drug abuse

 

1.7 TARGET GROUPS/BENEFICIARIES 

Our target groups are the vulnerable people (women, children and people with disability) and societies especially refugees and refugees hosting communities in Uganda refugees hosting district.

 

1.8 PARTNERS AND DONORS

TPDO aims to work in partnership with refugees and refugees hosting communities, government, and other organizations (local and international) to ensure that their efforts are successful. Through this efforts, TPDO makes a significant contribution towards improving the quality of life for people (refugees and refugees hosting communities) in Uganda and to create a more just and equitable society.
